Te Matau ā Pohe, Whangarei

Dynamic colour, shape and structure for the approach to the iconic Te Matau a Pohe bridge in Whangarei.

Our Involvement

Our involvement with this project commenced in 2011 when he prepared the visual assessment for inclusion in the resource consents for construction of the bridge, and subsequently presented evidence at the joint Whangarei District Council and Northland Regional Council hearing.

Once consents had been granted, Simon Cocker Landscape Architecture was commissioned to work in a team with the architects and engineers to develop the bridge design, the design for Dave Culham Drive, and the linkages with Port Road and Okara Drive, including the roundabouts.  This included preparation of detailed planting plans, schedules and specification, and the provision of technical observation during construction. (2011 – 2013).
