Landscape Policy Planning

Landscape policy planning includes the assessment of landscape on a broad regional, or national scale, or the mapping out potential landscape change scenarios, such as might occur with population growth, land-use activity changes or infrastructure projects (such as wind farms or roads).

Projects and Experience

In 2013, Simon Cocker Landscape Architecture was engaged by Northland Regional Council as part of a team to map the Outstanding Natural Landscapes of the Northland Region.  This study fed into the Regional Policy Statement.

In the past, Simon Cocker has been a member of teams undertaking assessments for Waitakere City (Waitakere District Landscape Assessment, (1993); Oratia Catchment Landscape Structure Plan, (1993); Franklin District Landscape Assessment, (1994); Whangarei District Urban Growth Strategy, (2005); Doubtless Bay Landscape Assessment, (2009); Kaipara District Landscape Assessment, (2009);

On a smaller scale, the practice has prepared Plan Changes for both Councils and for private individuals seeking the rezoning of areas to facilitate development.
